Scholarship Awards



The following is a list of scholarships that are available through the Michigan State Bowling Association for any graduating high school senior boy with unimpaired amateur standing in all athletics and must be a YABA sanctioned bowler in a sanctioned league during the present season.

State Scholarships are $1500.00 each. Deadline is April 1st.

 

 

MICHIGAN STATE USBC WOMEN'S BOWLING ASSOCIATION

Richard K. Fletcher State Scholarship


 

Based on academic achievement, civic activities, and the number of years nominee has been active in the YABA program, as well as special bowling honors and awards.

 

 

 

Joseph Naso State Scholarship


 

Based on the nominee's high bowling potential and on an outstanding record of bowling achievements in the past and current YABA league and tournament season.

 

 

 

Phillip Hirschman State Scholarship


 

To any young man in a vocational and/or trade program. All nomination forms must be submitted and signed by a YABA coach, YABA local association secretary, or a MSBA local association secretary on or before the deadline of April 1st.

 

Nomination forms are available through the local YABA coaches, YABA association secretary, or the Bay City Bowling Association.

 

In addition, all scholarships will also consider the following areas: contribution to bowling and community, scholastics, and letters of recommendation.

 

 

 

Wallace Matthew Bay Area Scholarship


 

This scholarship was established by the BCBA and BCWBA in 1987. Wallace E. Mathews was a member of the Board of Directors of the Bay City Bowling Association for more than 40 years

and served as the secretary for 35 years.

 

Applicants must be a senior in high school and accepted as a full time student at any accredited college or university. The applying student must have minimum GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale) and:

 

  1. be a current member of Bay Area USBC
  2. or - be a member of the Bay Area USBC for at least two of the last four seasons
  3. or - be a member of their high school bowling team
  4. or - be the child of a bowler sanctioned through the Bay City Men's or Women's                  Bowling  Association.
